ARABIAN PLATE

The Arabian Plate covers around 6 million km squared in the Middle Eastern region. It forms a convergent boundary with the Eurasian plate and a transform boundary with the African and Indian plate.

 

Notable Features:

  • Dead Sea: The fault of Arabian and African plate create the dead sea - the saltiest body of water with a 33.7% salinity. 

  • Arabian Dessert: A very large desert (covering 2 300 000 square km)
