CARRIBEAN PLATE

The Carribean plate consists of tropical islands such as Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Turks & Caicos. This plate is actually composed of several microplates, giving a large variety of landscapes within such a small area. This plate was originally a part of the South American plate however, has broken off and the South American plate has slide underneath the Carribean plate causing a convergent boundary. Due to this, there are many volcanoes in this area, as well as frequent earthquakes.
